Code of Ethics

Members must abide by CCC (QLD) Code of Ethics, and any laws, by-laws and regulations of the federal and state governments and the relevant local council.

standard of the breed

The Breed Standard is a written criterion developed by the Golden Retriever Club of the United
Kingdom and accepted by the AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL KENNEL COUNCIL (ANKC) and
CANINE CONTROL COUNCIL (CCC QLD), which describe the ideal Golden Retriever. Members
shall breed with ENDEAVOUR to improve the quality of the breed, rather than for the pet shop market or any other commercial purpose. The club undertakes to provide EDUCATION of the standard.

CCC (QLD) Rules & regulations



Members shall ensure that they understand the requirements when selling or transferring a dog or puppy
to another person. That documents, as required by the CCC (QLD) Rules and/or Regulations will be provided to the purchaser or transferee.


Members shall ensure that each dog to be used for breeding or to be shown or worked is properly registered with the CCC (QLD) in accordance with the understanding of the purchaser.


Members are required to maintain accurate breeding and litter records.

hereditary defects, health & breeding

  • Members are to be responsible dog owners and ensure that when mating individual animals both are in good health, the service conditions are safe, and facilities are planned for the raising of the puppies resulting from the mating.
  • Members shall endeavor to breed dogs that are as free as possible from hereditary defects including Hip Dysplasia, Elbow dysplasia, eye disorders (which include Cataracts, PRA, Distichiasis and Entropian), temperament issues and structural defects and any health disorders which become apparent over time.
  • Members shall ensure that at all times all dogs under their control are properly housed, fed, watered, exercised and receive proper veterinary attention, if and when required.
  • Members will ensure they are aware of CCC (QLD) and ANKC Breeding Policies before they breed their stud dog or bitch.
  • The Golden retriever Club of Queensland acknowledges the ANKC’s Code of Ethics, Clause 4 – “Members shall constantly strive to improve their knowledge of their chosen breed or breeds, and their knowledge of the requirements for the care, welfare and betterment of dogs”. In order to promote the ideals of Clause 4,
    I / We, consent / do not consent to the voluntary hereditary disease evaluation (test) information relating to dogs owned by me/us being included in the National Golden Retriever Council’s data collection and published on the NGRC’s website under the guidelines outlined on its Research Data Collection page.

honesty in representation

  • Members shall not knowingly misrepresent the characteristics of the breed, nor falsely advertise, or mislead any person regarding the performance of any dog, and at all times shall adhere to proper and ethical business practices when breeding, selling and placing their dogs.

community relations

  • Members are to display guardianship of their dogs and not allow any dogs under their care to roam at large and when away from home ensure they are kept fully leashed, or under effective control, at all times.
  • To promote good fellowship and sportsmanship amongst members and those participating in or at shows.

social media

  • Respect the reputations of other members, including judges, at CCC (Q) approved events and in dealings in wider forums, including chat lists on the internet and in other communications.
  • A member shall not misrepresent nor malign the conformation, characteristic or performance of another member’s dog
