2010 Obedience Trial

Trial Mangers Report

GRCQ Restricted Obedience Trial

I would just like to say what a fantastic night was had by all at the Golden Retriever trial on the 10th July. All that attended had fun and even though nearly all dogs did not qualify it did not dampen the joy and enthusiasm of the competitors. We were all willing the dogs to do well as each dog went in to compete, though it did no good with most of them lol. It was the typical Goldy oh I think I will do it my way tonight and enjoy myself along the way!

A heartfelt huge Thank You goes to all the wonderful helpers we had on the night: Brett Dowse, Helen Tanfield and Paul Thwaites who worked hard setting up rings. Brett and Paul again, Sue Holmes, Michelle Strain, Shane Careless, and Megan Kent for stewarding the rings and doing a brilliant job - most of these people don’t compete in obedience so it was very much appreciated for coming along on the night and helping us. Bev Thwaites for the awesome trophy table.

Our judges Andrew Holmes and Linda Bennett for agreeing to judge on the night a big Thank You to both of you. Andrew kindly donated his time and expertise. Helen Tanfield who was a big help on the night in organizing rings etc and answering all of my questions and without who’s help my job would have been quite a bit harder!

To our generous sponsors Dmon Tugs and Mutts Be Luv Barkery without who our trophy table would not have been as great as it was. Thanks so much.

And lastly but not at all least is the absolutely wonderful competitors who made the trial what it was a happy, friendly and most pleasurable night. So Thank You all. It was so lovely to see our interstate triallers and visitors on the night and them having a ball with us Queenslanders and of course catching up with our local Goldy friends as well. Our communal dinner is a great opportunity for all the workers and competitors to have a social chat and catch up.

I must also mention Congratulations to all our winners on the night.
Jan Dixon and Yogi (Euraidd One Night Stand CCD UD) who won Winner of Winners. Yogi gained first place in UD.

We only had 1 qualifying score on the night who won CCD Fetchnpoint Fish Outofwater owned by Maureen McDonald

The other classes were won by

Novice Gold Snow Queen of Hearts owned by Debra Rule

Open Ch Yellowfetch Mr Sandman CDX owned by Maureen McDonald

UDX Euraidd Toast n Vegemite UD owned by Jan Dixon

PS I think Maureen more than made up for the NSW State of Origin loss to Queensland as I think she needed a trailer to take all the prizes her lovely dogs won back home!!

A Competitors View - Thanks
I would like to say as a competitor how much I enjoyed the obedience trial on the 10th July and how great the night was. The friendly atmosphere was a credit to all that were there. I think even though we had only 1 qualifying score out of all dogs entered everyone had a fantastic night. I would have loved Loki to stay in his sit stay for another 10 seconds and be the second qualifying dog on the night but it wasn’t to be!
The competitors were wonderful and made the night what it was - really enjoyable. And of course our furry friends who if nothing else are absolutely entertaining! So to all Thank You so much.
