After a very slow start in entries I was pleased to see we received 82 entries to this year’s Golden Retriever Club of Queensland Championship Show which was held on Sunday 12 July 2009.
A very big congratulations to our Best In Show winner Skye Stephens and Gr CH Yellowfetch Whatz It To U and to Emma Clark and Ann Smith with the Runner Up In Show Ch Goldfleece Knock On Wood (AI). Congratulations also to all our class winners and a special thank you to our conformation Judge Mr Wayne Pearson for accepting our judging appointment and also donating the cost of the return airfare.
The show was officially opened by our Patroness Mrs Elsie Dodd and started in great style with our Parade of Veterans strutting their stuff around the ring and continued to run smoothly with a wonderful display of sportsmanship. The show finished on a high with all the class winners entering the ring for the traditional trophy presentation.
Congratulations to this years raffle winners Anne Deagon, Dave McKittrick and Lesley Listwho have taken home fabulous prizes which were donated by members of the GRCQ and also one of our sponsors Maggie Blue and to the winners of the silent auction which was also held at the grounds on Sunday.
Thank you to our Championship Show Sponsors Picky Pets, Purina and Sally Mitchell Fine Art. Without their sponsorship our trophy table would not have been as impressive. This year’s Best In Show received a lovely print donated by Sally Mitchell, a large bag of Purina’s Proplan Select together with their trophies and Picky Pet merchandise and gift voucher.
Thank you to the following club members, who donated trophies to this years championship show, Marilynn Morphett, Dee Hargreaves, Shirley De Longte, Ann Smith, Dave McKittrick, Hope Phillipson, Brenda Kent, Sharon McGrath, Bev Thwaites and Shirley Sullivan.
All Class In Show winners received their beautifully engraved trophy, a large bag of Proplan Select food, merchandise and gift vouchers from Picky Pets with the Opposite Sex In Show also receiving their beautiful trophy and merchandise from Picky Pets.
The show would not have been a success without the tireless help of Marilynn Morphett our wonderful Ring Steward, Lorna Hinsch our Writer, Hilary Larsen raffle ticket and auctioneer extraordinaire, Bev Thwaites our Trophy Steward and all the other busy behind the scenes members who make the day run smoothly.
Thank you to all the exhibitors and visitors who supported our show and I hope next year’s show is as successful as this years.
Kind regards
Cherree Munro
